Yesterday, Jessica's sister-in-law Linnea showed us around LA. After a jam packed day, I think that if working as a banker doesn't work out, Linnea should become a certified tour guide. We started the day on Hollywood Boulevard, we drank coffee from Starbucks and saw the Hollywood sign, which I learned isn't lit in the evening. We strolled down the Hollywood walk of fame and compared our hand & foot prints with the stars in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre. We pretended to walk the red carpet to the Kodak Theatre and saw where the Oscar's are held. The day didn't stop there, we pampered ourselves with pedicures at Jackie's nails. Then the drive began... we drove up Sunset boulevard, then through Beverly Hills, we saw where the stars live - but couldn't see much given the looming hedges, ivy laden walls and electronic security gates. We drove past where the "Girls Next Door" live, but we didn't see Heff or any bunnies. We drove past the gates that lead into Bel Air, and Beverly Hills High (90210, was really filmed there). The road trip led us up through Pacific Palisades to the beach in Santa Monica. We walked along the beach and then up to the world famous Santa Monica pier, where we strolled along the boardwalk with our melty ice cream. The Pacific was beautiful and we toasted it with cocktails overlooking the beach from the balcony at Shutters resort. Following the beach, we drove down Rodeo drive and shopped with our eyes at the designer stores cow-girls will never shop at. I also discovered that the Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel does really exist - not just a myth from Pretty Woman. Quite a day!
